Built in Mallorca: Projects, Collaborations and Client Trust

Open kitchen and dining area with timber cabinetry

A completed building provides one kind of evidence. A credit from an architect, an independent publication and a client’s account provide others. The projects below show different roles Robinson has taken in Mallorca: delivering a house from its early stages, rehabilitating a difficult property and building to an external design team’s plans.

Published Work and Independent Credits

Architectural Digest España’s feature on a holiday house in Pollença identifies Paul Robinson alongside London designer Samantha Knight and NB Architects in Palma. The magazine describes a reconfigured interior and names the contributors. This is a separate house from Villa Boquer; the AD and Decoesfera features document different projects.

Working With Architects and Designers

Casa Mar brought a new family house and a full-footprint basement onto a restricted plot in Port Adriano. Access made conventional handling of large shuttering elements impractical, so the construction team used lightweight shuttering that could be moved into place manually. The decision addressed a real site constraint while allowing work on the basement to proceed. Robinson carried out the construction and project management; LoNiu Home contributed to the interiors and art curation, including work from Gallery Red.

The collaboration has an independent record. SALVÀ Arquitectes’ Adriano project page names Jaime Salvá as architect and interior designer, Iñaki Fernández as technical architect and Paul Robinson SL as building company. Those credits describe the respective roles more clearly than a general claim about an integrated team.

Completed project: Casa Mar, Port Adriano.

Contemporary Mediterranean Villa: Construction & Project Management

For this contemporary Mediterranean villa, Robinson delivered construction and project management. Architect Jaime Salvá designed the home, bringing together natural stone façades, open living spaces and sheltered terraces.

The completed project connects the interiors with the garden and swimming pool. Photographs by Ricard Lopez show the finished stonework, glazing and the transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Villa Boquer: Rehabilitation in Puerto Pollença

The Villa Boquer project began with a house of more than 400 m² that had been left half built. Robinson redesigned the layout and completed the rehabilitation. Partitions came out to connect the kitchen, dining and living spaces; the internal floor finish was matched to the exterior stone, and larger openings improved the connection with the terraces and pool. When supply delays affected specified items, the team sourced suitable alternatives locally.

Decoesfera’s feature on the house identifies it as a Paul Robinson project and records both its abandoned condition and the reconfigured rooms. It offers an independent view of what changed, rather than a second version of our own project description.

Completed project: Villa Boquer, Puerto Pollença.

Palma Townhouse: Design and Construction

At the Palma Townhouse, Robinson took the design-build role, with interiors developed alongside LoNiu Home. Poor ground conditions meant that the foundations needed reinforcement, a problem addressed with the appropriate specialists before the construction proceeded. The resulting family home has outdoor rooms integrated into its compact urban plot.

Noemí Álvarez describes the ground issue and the finished home in a Designer’s note on the project page. It is her professional account of the work, clearly identified there as a designer’s note rather than presented as a client testimonial.

Completed project: Palma Townhouse.

Modern Apartment in Palma: Construction for an External Design Team

The Modern Apartment in Palma illustrates a different arrangement. Robinson was the main contractor, while Ingrid Batcup (BIID) was the interior designer and Mike Batcup (RIBA) the architect. The construction followed their design and specifications. This is a completed example of Robinson delivering the build within a team appointed around the client, without claiming the external design as its own.

Current Projects on Site

Completed work is only part of the picture. At Robinson’s own studio building in Palma, the team is in the final commissioning phase of the building systems. Heating and cooling, independently controlled fan-coil zones, KNX lighting and shading, water supply and pool equipment have been designed as working systems that can be operated, maintained and tested in daily use. This is our own building, so it provides a place to assess a specification before proposing comparable systems elsewhere.

A villa renovation in Pollença is in its final phase of gardens, terraces and exterior works. The house renovation led to further work outside: a garden planned with a specialist landscaping partner, restoration of a traditional cistern, remedial terrace waterproofing, boundaries and locally made shading. These are works in progress, so no completion claim or progress photographs accompany this account.

A Client’s Account of the Work

Amanda Marsden has authorised this account of a Robinson × LoNiu Home project in Puerto Pollença. Her words include both the experience of building on the island and the support she received from Paul and Noemí.

“I would highly recommend — just exercise patience; it’s Majorcan time and an island, but living the dream is worth every step of the way.

Thank you to both Noemi and Paul for realising our dream, supporting us along the way, and for your patience with my choices.”

What These Projects Show

The value of these projects lies in the work that can be examined. Casa Mar shows a construction solution shaped by a restricted site and a clearly credited team. Contemporary Mediterranean Villa shows Robinson’s construction and project management within a team led by architect Jaime Salvá. Villa Boquer shows how an abandoned structure became a functioning home. The Palma projects show two distinct roles: leading design and construction, and building faithfully to an independent team’s plans. The published features and Amanda’s account add perspectives beyond our own project descriptions.

Every brief brings different constraints and people. Paul’s role is to establish responsibilities, coordinate decisions and keep the work buildable through to handover. The same care applies whether Robinson develops the design or joins a team the client has already chosen.
